# Security Model

What the contracts guarantee, what they can't, and who controls what.

Degen Games is built so the important things don't depend on trusting anyone: not the creator, not other players, and not Degen Games.

## Guaranteed by the contracts

| Guarantee                     | How                                                                                                                                                                                |
| ----------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Non-custodial** | Every launch, trade and claim is a transaction your own wallet signs. Degen Games never holds your funds. |
| **Fixed supply** | 1,000,000,000 tokens per coin, all minted to the curve at launch. There's no mint function. |
| **Fair launch** | No presale and no team allocation. The creator buys like everyone else. |
| **No rug on the pool** | The LP position is sent to `0x…dEaD` at graduation. Nobody can withdraw it. See [Burned Liquidity](/degen-games-docs/how-the-game-works/burned-liquidity.md). |
| **No owner** | Every coin burns its ownership to `0x…dEaD` at deployment. There's no owner key and nothing to renounce. |
| **No hidden switches** | Coins have no blacklist, no freeze, no pause on selling, and no tax on wallet-to-wallet transfers. |
| **Terms locked at launch** | Supply, pricing, raise asset, creator tax (it can never be raised), fee split and snipe window are snapshotted per coin. |
| **Pinned economics** | A launch reverts if its terms changed between the preview and the transaction. |
| **Anti-snipe**                | A 3-second snipe tax makes bot-sniping new curves unprofitable. See [Snipe Protection](/degen-games-docs/how-the-game-works/snipe-protection.md).                                  |
| **Atomic dev buys** | Launch & buy happens in one transaction, so nobody can front-run the creator's first buy. |
| **Fair graduation** | Every coin graduates at the curve's final price, into a pool sized at launch. The final buy is clamped and refunded, not rejected, so nobody can block graduation by buying first. |
| **No pool squatting** | The hook only accepts pools registered by the factory, so nobody can create a coin's pool early at a bad price. |
| **Permissionless graduation** | If automatic graduation stalls, anyone can finish it for the cost of gas. |
| **Pull-based payouts** | Fees go to an escrow and recipients withdraw them. One broken wallet can't jam payouts for everyone. |
| **Bounded internal swaps** | Fee conversions and buybacks are capped at 3% price impact. If they'd move the price more, they're skipped. |
| **Verified code** | Every coin's contract is source-verified on the explorer automatically. See [Automatic Contract Verification](/degen-games-docs/how-the-game-works/contract-verification.md). |

## What the platform can and can't do

The platform owner runs the launchpad's settings. Those powers are limited, and the sensitive ones are delayed or public.

**It can:**

* Change settings for **future** launches: the launch fee, launch configs, snipe window, maximum creator tax and approved raise assets.
* Open or close launching, or limit it to an allowlist.
* Turn **off** a coin's creator buybacks (never on).
* Propose a fee-recipient change for an abandoned coin. It's public, waits **3 days**, then must be executed within **3 days**. See [Creator Controls](/degen-games-docs/how-the-game-works/creator-controls.md).
* Recover the funds of a graduation stuck for **7 days**. The coin is then marked Rescued on-chain. See [Graduation](/degen-games-docs/how-the-game-works/graduation.md#the-safety-valve).

**It can't:**

* Mint tokens, freeze wallets or blacklist anyone.
* Change the terms of a coin that's already live.
* Raise a coin's creator tax.
* Touch the burned liquidity.
* Stop you from selling on the curve or trading in the pool.

## What no contract can protect you from

* **Market risk.** Prices can fall to zero. Burned liquidity stops a rug, not a dump.
* **Copycats.** Names, tickers and images can be copied. Only the contract address is unique.
* **Creator behaviour.** A creator can buy early and sell into later buyers, like any holder.
* **Your own keys.** If your wallet is compromised, so is everything in it.

See [Risk Disclosures](/degen-games-docs/safety/risk-disclosures.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://degen-games-2.gitbook.io/degen-games-docs/safety/security-model.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
